CHAPTER SEVEN

DREAM INTERPRETATION PRACTICALS

THE INTERPRETIVE PROCESS OF DREAM INTERPRETATION

In the context of dream interpretation, it is important to note that any dream that is not understood remains a mere occurrence. However, when understood, a dream can become a life-changing experience, touching the destinies of the masses across the globe. When interpreting a dream, it is highly advisable that you reduce it to its simplest form. This involves developing an understanding that symbols do not always mean the same thing as they vary from dream to dream. It is important that you ask yourself the following questions: “Where am I in this dream?” Determining this will tell you who the dream is about. It is also important that you determine your role or position in the dream whether you are an observe, participant or main centre of focus:

The Observer:

As an observer, you merely observe the action but do not take part in the events or activities of the dream. The observer is external to the dream as a spectator watching the proceedings of the dream from a distant. As an observer, its like a move is played right in front of you, of which you are not a part. However, if you are an observer, it is important that you analyse the key things you are observing in the dream.

The Participant:

As a participant, you appear to be actively taking part in the proceedings of the dream, but not the centre of attention. The participant in some cases find himself playing the role of a main character in the dream whereby everything revolves around you. If you are a participant, then find out how is your emotions, behaviour, and attitude towards the people and scenes you encounter in the dream. This is because these emotions or behaviors are key in terms of securing the interpretation of the dream.

The Main Focus:

As the main focus in the dream, everything revolves around you. You are the principal actor and centre of attention. Occasionally, you can shift positions in the dream, for example from observer to participant. To determine if you are the main focus of the dream, ask yourself this question, “Who is this dream about? Who, or what, is the center of attention? In addition, it is also important that you establish the Sub-Focus of the dream. Sub-focuses are the elements in a dream that are necessary to find the theme or plot and make it have meaning. They are important to rounding out or completing the story.

Imbued with this understanding, let’s now consider some of the dreams below as well as their practical interpretations:

DREAM 1

I was at a well near my house. The well has a rope. The rope looks like an ordinary rope and was not too thin or too thick. There was plenty of water in the well. But the water level was about 13 to15 feet from the mouth of the well. It looks like a very deep well that will never run dry. In this dream I had already drawn out a big bucket of water.
